Overview
Researchers in the Web Search and Mining Area are turning their ideas into reality in areas such as computer vision, pattern recognition, machine learning. Projects pushing the state-of-the-art forward include multimedia related research.
Required Qualifications:
• MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science or any related technical field;
• Good reading, written, and oral English;
• Strong in signal and image processing;
• Solid mathematics (linear algebra, optimization, statistics);
• Background in machine learning (clustering, learning, classification) ;
• Good programming skills or have related project experience;
• Good communication skills and excellent teamwork;
• Can commit at least 6 months internship, can get your advisor’s approval.

Required Qualifications:
• MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science or any related technical field

• Good communications, project management and interpersonal skills;
• Familiar with MSTC operational handbook will be preferred;
• Well-organized, initiative taking and self-motivated;

With various analytical and computing technologies, such as pattern recognition, machine learning, data mining, information visualization and large-scale data computing & processing, software analytics is to enable software practitioners to perform effective and efficient data exploration and analysis in order to obtain insightful and actionable information for data-driven tasks in engineering software and services.
Roles & Responsibilities
The intern will be working in data mining on large-scale data, and implementing a system to enable the effective and efficient data exploration and analysis.
Required Qualifications:
• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related technical field and possess the following skills;
• Strong in algorithm design and algorithm implementation;
• Background in machine learning and data mining;
• Strong in programming skills;
• Passion in algorithm and programming;

Group: MSRA Internet Graphics Group
Quantity: 1

Group Overview
The Internet Graphics Group at Microsoft Research Asia conducts cutting-edge research on visual analytics methodologies, graphics systems, intelligent user interfaces, and information visualization technologies. Researchers from the group work closely with Microsoft Bing Search, Office, and Game Studios on next generation visualization and graphics technologies.
Roles & Responsibilities
We are looking for a few highly-motivated interns to work on projects of visualization and visual analytics of large-scale, multidimensional data such as search log data, social media data, news data, etc. We plan to develop new advanced visual analytics techniques to facilitate various data analysis tasks, such that analysts and applied researchers to interactively explore and analyze complex the data to gain insight. The major role of the interns would be to help us implement our new ideas and develop the system.
Required Qualifications:
• BS/MS/PhD students in Computer Science or related fields
• Commitment to stay in MSRA for more than a half year
• Passionate, persistent, but disciplined about pursuing quality
• Excellent programming skills in C# , JAVA, or C++; Experience in ACM/ICPC related programming contest is preferred
• Good communication skills and excellent teamwork
• Knowledge of the following one or more areas: machine learning, data mining, text analytics, and network analysis techniques. A solid background in mathematics is preferred.
